XP New Zealand National Championships is just around the corner and Gymnastics New Zealand are on the lookout for some fantastic people who can give us a much needed helping hand at this year's championships! Below is additional information for what’s involved, what you get as a volunteer, dates, and roles available.

How to get involved:
Simply fill out this Google Form and join the Nationals team from Tuesday 8th October until Saturday 12th October.

Role Descriptions are listed below; Please note that training will be provided where necessary.
Set up/pack down
Assisting the GNZ team with the set up and pack down at the gym.
Trampoline spotters
Trampoline spotters are responsible for breaking the fall of athletes if they come off the trampolines, and as such, are integral to ensuring the safety of the athletes. Spotters need to be physically fit adults able to concentrate for extended periods. Previous experience spotting is preferred but not necessary, training will be provided.
Marshalls
Marshals are responsible for organising athletes into their order of competition and escorting them from the warm-up/marshalling area to the competition area and vice versa. Some knowledge of the code for which volunteers are marshalling is required.
Announcers
Announcers are responsible for welcoming spectators to the venue and keeping them informed throughout the day, as well as introducing athletes as they enter the competition area to compete. While some knowledge of the code for which volunteers are announcing is helpful, it is not necessary.
Video Recorder
Video recorders are situated in the competition area and record athletes’ routines. No previous experience/knowledge is required.
Music
Music operators are responsible for playing the music for athletes’ routines as well as the march in music. They work closely with the announcer and floor manager. No previous experience/knowledge is required
Results Assistant
Results assistant works alongside the results manger to ensure that the athletes scores are correctly inputted into our scoring system. To be able to do this role, you must have had experience using either SportTech or Scoreholder.
Competition Office Administrator
Assisting with the preparation of start lists, withdrawals, results and prizegiving. Also ensuring judges spaces are clean and tidy for each session. Receive all queries from team managers, communication through basecamp. Printing certificates, distributing pp.
Floor Manager
Floor Managers are responsible for but not limited to the below:
- Oversee the timing of the competition
- Meet and greet control judge, announcer, commentators and data entry people each day
- Meet and greet marshalls each day/session
- Communicate with comp office any withdrawals and get run lists for each session
- Check off athletes either on Scoreholder on your phone or run lists from comp office
- Monitor coach accreditations
- Monitor coach and athlete behaviour
Front of house
This duty involves greeting people as they arrive at the venue and scanning pre purchased tickets or the sale of door tickets.
