GNZ has some great resourses outlining the pathways for coaches and judges. Have a read of the handbook below but please don't get in contact with GNZ directly. All enquiries and course enrolments/bookings are done through the club.

Coaching at Tri Star

At Tri Star we have a few coaching options.

GFA Coaching

For those just starting out GFA (Recreational) Coaching is the best place to start. Where training hours permit coaching can be done afterschool or on the weekends. Those who are new to gymnastics or our younger coaches are often placed as buddy coaches to learn the ropes. Once they have a bit of experience they can be given their own groups to coach each week.

Our GFA coaches are start the GNZ Coaching pathway either through the Foundation Coach Courses or by starting in the Xtend programme. All coaches (even the international coaches) start their coaching career by completing Foundation Coach so it is a great way to start.

If you are interested in coaching GFA classes please get in contact with Gillian who is the GFA Manager gillian.tracey@tristar.org.nz

Competition Coaching

For those who have experience in gymnastics already and have the maturity to coach in the competition programme we occasionally have a need for comp coaches. For these positions we either shoulder tap current coaches or publically advertise the role. If you are interested in one day becoming a competitive coach, please let Paul our Competitive Manager know paul.fischetti@tristar.org.nz

The other option in comp is to become a cover coach. You will recieve a casual contract and complete the nesessary courses (safeguarding course and a police vett). As a casual cover coach we will call on you when one of our regular coaches is away or sick. To become a cover coach, please get in touch with either Gillian for GFA cover or Paul for Comp Cover (emails above).

Judging at Tri star

We are always on the lookout for more judges in all codes at Tri Star.

While judging at the top level can take many many years, the first stage of becoming a judge is called foundation judge and is an online course. The minimum age for this course is 15 years.

If you are interested in becoming a judge the GNZ Coaching and Judging handbook linked above has all the information around each course and what the entail.

Please let Paul know if you are interested in becoming a judge for Tri star. Paul.fischetti@tristar.org.nz
